I am a retired writer, editor, and nonprofit manager. In 2016 I began to take graduate courses in history at North Carolina State University (NC State) in Raleigh, North Carolina. In December 2020, I received my master’s degree (with distinction). My first post explains why I’m writing this blog. Very briefly, I wanted to reflect on and share experiences relating to my courses, the university, and, especially, the discipline of history. That interest continues. I welcome comments and corrections.
For more about me, please consult the website of the James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal, whose board I head.
The photos and artwork I use are copyright-free. Most come (at no charge) from Pixabay.com or Unsplash.com and the British Library collection of Flickr.com. A few I have taken myself. The photo above was taken by David Williams of Raleigh. Because of my commitment to private property rights, I do not use photographs that are copyrighted (unless I pay for them).
